To End All Wars is the title of a 2001 movie I recommend.
The setting is a POW camp in Japan during WWII. Unlike most war flicks which dramatize survival issues and the accomplishment of military or other external goals, this movie tells the story of the internal growth of the inmates as well as some of the guards as they lived in horrid conditions and experienced unspeakable brutality.
